BUILD YOUR HEART OUT
In 2000, PYHO launched a development arm, Build Your Heart Out, with the goal of neighborhood preservation, providing home ownership and creating revenue to reinvest into Paint Your Heart Out.

There's No Place Like an Anaheim Home
For the Figueroa family, owning a home had been an elusive dream. That all changed when Build Your Heart Out offered a vintage home for sale on east Broadway. From 25 applicants, Jose, Maria and their three daughters ages 11, 8 and 4 were selected to buy the 1908 bungalow. Over a seven-month period, it was renovated by Anaheim contractor John Hanger and dozens of construction industry volunteers coordinated by PYHO board member Debi Duke, an engineer with Turner Construction.
Build Your Heart Out, the development arm of Paint Your heart Out Anaheim, partnered with Anaheim Redevelopment to transform the blighted house, the neighborhood and most importantly the lives of the family of five who are now proud mortgage holders.
Because of the support of the city and the hard work of the professionals who donated their skills and materials to renovate the run down house, the Build Your Heart Out project generates funds which will be invested back into Anaheim through PYHO.
The house started as a turquoise two bedroom, one bath rental that had suffered years of neglect. Now the Figueroas are the proud owners of an expanded three bedroom, two bath home with colorful tile, newly built cabinets, a roomy back yard and a dream come true.
